“In 1976, the traditional doctor columns were all about pills and pimples, headaches and hemorrhoids, but I wanted to talk to readers about fitness, wellness, injury prevention, stress reduction, smart eating, deep breathing and a bunch of other subjects. Back then, healthy lifestyle wasn’t even a concept. Farmer’s markets were for selling pigs and only tough guys belonged to gyms.”

Longevity matters. I was delighted that my Energy Express column lasted as long as it did. 43 years! It ran in newspapers all around the country until May, 2019, when I ended it for the most personal of reasons. I continue to work as a journalist, still encouraging and educating my readers who want guidance and grit during these times.
