Watch Your Balance! 2022 Is Off To A Rocky Start

Here I am, working to keep my balance, being extra careful on some slippery rocks.

It reminds me so much of my personal well-being strategy as 2022 unfolds.

COVID is still with us, and I have to keep reminding myself, and all my readers:

Move slowly.

Be aware.

Don’t wind up in the hospital.

So, may I ask: What’s your well-being strategy for 2022?

If you don’t have one, it’s not too late. It’s never too late to begin again.

You can start by asking yourself the question one of my favorite yoga teachers asked at the close of my ZOOM class on January 2, the day after the day after we all gave up on New Year resolutions and just started to eat cookies.

“Are you living the life you truly want to live?”

Forget the truly. It makes it sound too religious. Just take a moment and ask yourself: Are you living the life you want to live?

Don’t judge. Don’t fudge. Just listen for something resembling an answer.

“Sarah!” I remember calling out to the computer screen from my yoga mat, happily muted. “Don’t you have an easier question for us?”

Easier yes, but so essential to our well-being in 2022, and beyond. Letting go of fear and choosing a course-correction in life—even if it’s just swapping plant-based protein for the tortured meaty kind—can be hard. It takes effort and joy, it takes support and grace.

Are you living the life you want to live?

You don’t have to answer right away. It’s 4 days after my yoga class with SATYA-inspired Sarah Steen, and I’m still thinking about it.

And now, acting like the journalist I am, I’ve passed it on to you.

No pressure, but if you avoid, delete, or ignore this question, over time, your personal well-being will be hit by a meteor the size of New Jersey.
